I must admit I was not so much of a wine person until I started making trips to Cape Town in 2015. It is a bit hard to end a day in Cape town without mentioning the word ‘wine’ a couple of times. If you have visited, you will agree with me. Wine tasting is one of the ‘must do’ in Cape Town with hundreds of wine farms to choose from.
In June of 2017, my colleagues introduced me to Haute Cabrière in Franschhoek Winery, a family-owned winery founded in 1694, and home of Pierre Jourdan. Situated in Franschhoek, one of Cape Town’s oldest French heritage towns, Haute Cabrière Wine Estate overlooks the spectacular wine valleys and Franschhoek mountains boasting arguably the best views on planet earth.
Grab a seat on the terrace with a glass of wine on your hand and enjoy this article.
Wine tasting is available in the tasting room or outside on the terrace, which is highly recommended in Summer, and for the views.
Tasting is accompanied by a story about Haute Cabrière history and wine making process by the estate’s friendly staff.
Wine Tasting is done Monday to Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm with Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm. If travelling in a group of over 10 people, prior reservation is recommended.
Length of flavour is everything. Nothing worse than drinking wine that goes down your throat like lightning. – Haute Cabriere Cellar Master and Production Director Takuan von Arnim
